Throughout May, our senior adults, under the leadership of Marilyn Horacek (480-816-3520), sponsor this ministry project in partnership with a Scottsdale Senior Center. Pick up your red bags at the ministry table, fill them with the items on the enclosed lists, and return them to the foyer during May. These necessities assist over 200 seniors in need in our area and our church provides the “lion’s share” of the bags among community organizations. All Bible Study groups and individuals of all ages are urged to help.

Not all moms are full of love! But the deepest human love is usually found in moms. God’s love for us is the absolute deepest (He gave His Son for us). Our love for others is to be this kind of love.

Love enough to show, tell, share Jesus, and help. Be like God-love!

Christian apologist Gary Habermas (Ph.D., Michigan State University) revels in “the marks of authenticity” in Scripture. Little historical details, names of insignificant people, different ways Bible writers say the same things—all of these identify the biblical documents as being really written when and by whom they claim. Thus, Scripture has high believability immediately due to its character and accuracy.

The accuracy of the Bible’s content, its evidence contrary to some kind of conspiracy, and its unity of thought throughout make it dependable “beyond a reasonable doubt.” It’s God’s Book! Thus,it has great power. The Bible’s perseverance, influence, and “comprehensiveness” (clear and consistent answers for all of life’s major questions) also reveal its power. Mainly, though, Scripture powerfully changes lives.

Scripture gave power to the apostles who died martyrs’ deaths. Another popular apologist, Lee Strobel (Yale Law School), says they didn’t die for what they “believed” to be true (like the 9/11 terrorists), they died for what they knew as eyewitnesses “for sure” to be true (nobody dies for what he knows “for sure” to be false)! Moreover, the Bible has given power for innumerable intellectual people throughout history to change from atheism to Christ, hate to love, and insignificance to purposefulness. It has the power to change you and me—daily! Read it and see for yourself.

“In the Round . . .
Eclectic Elements of Worship”

This Sunday at 4:30 p.m., the Pastor’s “favorite passage” presentation in the Fellowship Center will involve the second of a two-part session on Christian attitudes based on the Book of Philippians. Everyone will receive a “Seven-Up,” guaranteed to help with relationships, work, school, home, and worship—really, for all ages, young or old!

Again, the session will include humor, Bible examination, and group participation. It involves biblically-based material the Pastor has used over the years when speaking to public school teachers, APS employees, civic clubs, sports organizations, churches, high school students, etc. However, the biblical references and examples are more numerous, enabling pastor Norwood to promise these truths about oneself can immediately (any given moment!) change anyone in the aforementioned areas—all at once!

This is not an oversell! “Come and see.”

The FSBCS Worship Center will be open from 7:00 AM-7:00 PM

National Day of Prayer calls on all people of different faiths in the United States to pray for the nation and its leaders. It is held on the first Thursday of May each year.

The FSBCS Worship Center will be open from 7:00 AM-7:00 PM on Thursday, May 3rd, to observe the National Day of Prayer.

One of our Deacon Body ministries is providing one or more “day of prayer” events each year. John Herr coordinates these for the deacons, but others helped him plan our upcoming event (Kim Desmarchais, Mona McDonald, etc.). The National Day of Prayer is next Thursday, May 3. My wife, Nancy, said last year’s event was “great” for her. Another wonderful experience is in store for all comers this year, anytime from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. You can sign up for an hour or more Sunday at a ministry table or just come when it is convenient for you. The following are responsible for the various prayer stations you will enjoy as you spend intimate time with the Lord and intercede for the people and situations described at the various tables:

Welcome Table – Becky Panter

Preparing for Prayer – Susan Tibbets

Family & Friends – Dee Barber

Church – Jocelyn Horton

City State & Country – Danny & Ann Seiden

Military – Jeff Winters

Missions – John Moore

Praise and Thanksgiving – John Herr

Don’t miss this great opportunity! More are attending every year; let us become a greater family of prayer together!
