Our Leadership Staff
W. Berry Norwood, Lead Pastor
Pastor Norwood provides a relaxed leadership style that encourages ministry leaders and participants to discover their own giftedness and agendas from prayer. He desires to equip and encourage people to be “on mission” with the Savior. His public teaching manner includes sincerity, humor, and multimedia to communicate spiritual and practical truth from Scripture.
Berry is an “oldies” buff (both movies and music). He also enjoys some of the good current productions–especially drama and adventure. He loves doing theological research as a hobby and tries to swim and play basketball more than he really gets to! He and his wife Nancy have been married since 1969.
David Pack, Assistant to the Pastor
David is joyfully entering his third career, but just a new phase in his Kingdom service! David fulfilled a military career and has worked for Intel for well over a decade. However, he received his master’s degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008, and he serves FSBCS through his leadership over the Outreach Ministry Team and the Sunday Adult Bible Study Groups.
David and his wife Song Hui have a grown son, Shawn, who is married, has a child, and pastors in the Tucson area. David and Song Hui have a passion for missions and prayer. Their deep spirituality inspires people of all ages!
Keith Matney, Associate Pastor
Keith enjoys creating worship settings that are both celebrative and meditative. Utilizing a choir, platform instrumentalists, gifted soloists, group Scripture readings, testimonies, etc., he leads people to recognize the very presence of God through music. He believes the people of God should provide local, community-impacting ministries, as well as be “on mission” in the larger world.
Keith and his wife, Kathy, have been married since 1983 and have three boys- now young men. In his free time, what he loves most is simply hanging out with his family- whether that’s golfing, playing basketball, attending musical productions, watching movies, or cheering at his kid’s athletic events. Kathy aspires for Keith to become a great ballroom dancer someday!
Todd Miller, Student Pastor
Todd’s heart is to move junior and senior high school students to personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and then to “on mission” lifestyles in the Kingdom. Exciting and relevant Bible study, dynamic worship music, hilarious games, and meaningful relationships are all tools Todd uses for his ministry.
Born in Ohio, Todd moved to Arizona when he was 3 with his parents and 3 brothers. He graduated from Yavapai College with an A.A. degree and then from ASU with a B.A. in Secondary Education, Business. While at Yavapai he met Katie, his beautiful wife. Karen Massingill, Family Ministry Director
Karen’s passion is to see children come to know God, love God, hear God, and obey God. Her desire is for parents to be equipped to be the spiritual leaders in the home. Karen has the gift of teaching, and she loves to teach the Bible and biblical truths in creative ways.
In her spare time Karen enjoys reading, writing, singing, sketching or painting, and playing word games. She is a natural at story-telling and aspires to publish a children’s book one day. Her “favorites” are: dark chocolate, Starbuck’s hazelnut latte, “I Love Lucy,” and traveling.
Karen and her husband Steve (aka Maz) have been married since 1978 and have a grown daughter, Heather. They enjoy vacationing in San Diego each summer, but would concede to a week on Kaanapali Beach on Maui if they really had a choice!
Kathi Barber, Administrative Secretary
Kathi has to be told to say “No,” and she still says “Yes” too often! Her ministry involves a lot of technological creativity and support. She strengthens the public worship experience of God’s people, and she’s “on mission” personally via several leadership positions and ministry teams.
Kathi is a Phoenix native and began working at FSBCS in 1994. She’s the proud “Aunt Kashi” to three beautiful nieces and Aunt Kathi to other cousins and friends. When she’s not working she enjoys scrapbooking, traveling, spending time with family and friends and shopping for new shoes while carrying a new purse!
